HASSRA London Update 2nd September 2011

www.hassra.org.uk

Dear all,

I very much regret that since taking over as the HASSRA London Regional Business Partner last year, I have not had the time to be able to provide you all with regular monthly email updates. However, I am delighted to be able to tell you that as of this September, Paul Fitton the former HASSRA London Manager, has agreed to come back and help us out by producing a monthly members benefits newsletter that was so much enjoyed and used by so many of you. Paul is currently getting a number of new offers together ready for the first edition and I am very grateful for his agreement to come back and help us out.

1. Each Association may enter one act comprised of a maximum of 6 persons. This must include all performers and any backstage helpers.

2. All competitors must be members of HASSRA. Retired members can elect to represent either the Association in which they last worked or the Association in which they now reside.

3. An independent adjudicator panel will officiate and the winners will be announced after completion of the last act. The adjudicator Panels decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

4. You must notify the Organisers, in advance, if your act intend to:
- perform physical and/or dangerous stunts, explaining the full nature of the stunt;

The use of animals and any form of Pyrotechnics are not permitted.

5. Each Association must send to the Organiser, by a date no later than 4 weeks before the event, details of the act as it is to be performed for the use of the Adjudicator panel.

6. Each act will perform once before the adjudicator panel, with their act / performance to last no longer than 10 minutes each time.

7. Following all performances taking place, the Adjudicator Panel will select their top three acts, which will then do a final performance. This final performance, again to last no more than 10 minutes will be held in front of the other competitors and guests. The panel will decide the winner based solely on this final performance.

Volunteering Needed on - 7th & 8th September 2011

40 volunteers in total needed

The Connection at St Martin’s
12 Adelaide Street
London
WC2N 4HW

15 – 20 volunteers are needed on both days to help paint the inside of this incredible drop-in centre.

The walls are all in good order but there are an awful lot of them hence the need for so many volunteers.

Even if you can only do half-a-day, it will help make a big difference.

About The Connection

The Connection at St Martin's helps homeless people by providing specialist services – including a day and night centre, outreach for rough sleepers, skills training and career advice, activity programmes and specialist support for complex needs – to over 200 people in central London every day. We offer advice, care and support in a welcoming and friendly environment. By encouraging each person to address the issues which caused their homelessness, we help them to gain the skills and confidence to make lasting changes in their lives.
