All full members and individuals who have been awarded associate membership of HASSRA are elegible to apply to become an elected member of the Board of Management (BOM).
No less than 28 days prior to each Annual General Meeting (AGM), which has to be held within three months of the close of each calendar year, the Regional Business Partner (RBP) will circulate via the HASSRA website an invitation for all existing members and any potential new members to apply to become members of the Board of Management. Anyone who expresses an interest will be sent a pro-forma to complete, detailing their experience (if any) of holding voluntary posts within HASSRA, and what skills/qualities they consider they can bring to the Board of Management. Enthusiasm and committment and the capacity to become fully involved in achieving the objectives of the Association are equally as important as previous HASSRA experience. The Officers of the Council will determine who is elected to the Board of Management.
All members of the BOM, apart from the Chair who is appointed by the President, are elected on an annual basis at the AGM. The AGM is usually held in March each year.
Members are expected to attend and contribute to BOM meetings, which are held no less than four times each year. In addition, they are expected to be a member of at least one of the six sub-committees, who deal with specific aspects of HASSRA business, and report back to the BOM.
BOM members are expected to become fully involved in encouraging, supporting and co-ordinating the pursuit of sport, recreation, leisure and Live Well Work Well initiatives for and among HASSRA members.
The BOM is responsible for the management of ongoing business of the Association between meetings.
